International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language
IATEFL Conference and Exhibition
Almost 2,600 delegates from across 109 countries gathered for the 47th annual International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language conference and exhibition.
The IATEFL event involved 500 working sessions which used 19 session rooms in ACC Liverpool and five in the nearby Jury’s Inn Hotel. A total of 15 hotels in the city hosted the delegates.
It brought together teachers and teacher trainers with course providers, publishers and authors in the English language world.
An ELT Resources Exhibition featured more than 50 exhibitors who included publishers, course providers, book sellers and exam boards.
IATEFL Executive Officer Glenda Smart worked with ACC Liverpool, the city’s transportation services and Liverpool Convention Bureau to plan the event.
Glenda said: “ACC Liverpool proved very delegate-friendly and everything went very smoothly.”
The programme outside of the conference and exhibition included an official welcome reception, an awards evening, a poetry event, quizzes and music sessions.
Delegates were also able to take part in walking tours in the city and visits to nearby Chester and Port Sunlight.
