Delegates from across the world have descended on Liverpool for the most important event in the global conference industry's calendar.
The AIPC, Association International Palais de Congress, the industry organisation that recognises excellence in conference centres worldwide, has chosen Liverpool as the location for this year's 52nd General Assembly.
Since opening its doors in 2008, ACC Liverpool has already contributed £400million to Liverpool's economy. Selecting ACC Liverpool for this prestigious industry event reflects the venue's success in the last two years and positions the city as a leader in the meetings industry.
Some 200 international delegates and media representatives from as far afield as Australia and South Africa are in the city for the annual showcase gathering, which is recognised as the benchmark for best practice in congress centre management.
The event is regarded as a major opportunity to tell and sell the story of Liverpool's recent renaissance to an influential global audience.
Jacquie Rogers, AIPC board member and General Manager of BT Convention Centre Liverpool, said: "We are excited to welcome such a prestigious event to ACC Liverpool and the city.
"We are one of AIPC's newer members and therefore have designed a programme that will maximise exposure of both the venue and the city to all of our industry peers and press who are instrumental in helping to build our global reputation."
The conference began on Saturday 3rd July with a programme to show delegates the wealth of cultural and creative hotspots that have driven Liverpool's reputation; from the UNESCO-listed waterfront to the diversity of the Tate and Walker art galleries.
Conference closes on Wednesday 7th July.
