The Echo Arena Liverpool will host the opening night of the 2009 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts on Thursday 5 February 2009.

The Echo Arena hosted the biggest ever crowd for a PDC tournament when 8,000 fans packed the Arena in April to see stars including Phil Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld and World Champion John Part.

Next year's event, which sees the eight players face off in a league format over 14 weeks before the top four compete in the play-offs, will begin at the Echo Arena Liverpool on February 5.

The tournament, screened live on Sky Sports, will also visit various cities around the UK  before the play-offs take place in London in May, with the winner scooping a record £125,000 first prize.

"The Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts has grown to become the biggest indoor sporting event in the UK over the past four years," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"Its development into a major arena spectacle has been nothing short of sensational - it's the ticket every sports fan in the UK wants! The Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts in Liverpool was one of the greatest nights of sport I've ever been involved in. To see 8,000 fans enjoying a brilliant evening of darts was wonderful and played a big role in the decision to start the 2009 Premier League Darts in Liverpool. It's a great arena and we can't wait to be going back there.”

Phil Taylor claimed a fourth successive title in Cardiff in May 2008, and will be one of the eight competitors battling for the £125,000 first prize next year.

"The Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts is a massive tournament now and I love competing in it," said Taylor.

The eight competitors for the 2009 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts will be confirmed in January, with the top six players from the PDC Order of Merit, following the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship joined by two Wildcard selections.

All ticket purchases are subject to a 'per ticket' booking fee and a handling fee.

We would advise no under-11s and recommend strongly that family groups with under-16s go in the Family Enclosure block. Please contact the Box Office if you would like to book tickets in the Family Enclosure Block(subject to availability).

Ticket holders are requested to take their seats at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the event. The PDC reserves the right to fill any seat after this time.
The Broadcast may contain strobe lighting and smoke effects. Any person who may be adversely affected by such effects should take notice and take appropriate action.
No football colours will be allowed into the venue.
No tickets are to be re-sold at a greater price than the face value on the ticket. Any persons attempting to do so will have those tickets made void.
Any spectators are reminded that the writing of any message deemed offensive or inflammatory on 180 cards or similar will lead to perpetrators being asked to leave the premises.

Mobile phones should be switched off by all customers when in the main auditorium.
