CMP ENTERTAINMENT, are proud to announce, ex Rolling Stone's bassist, BILL WYMAN and his RHYTHM KINGS will be joining folk legend JOHN MARTYN for  a very special Summer Pops show on Monday 14th July 2008.

Rock and roll icon, author, restaurateur, - legendary former Rolling Stones bassist BILL WYMAN has seen it all and continues to live life to the full. For over thirty years he was part of the best rock n roll band in the world.
 
His latest musical rebirth as the driving force behind the fabulous Rhythm Kings sees him return to his musical roots. This set of virtuoso musicians superbly bring back to life the kind of classic rhythm and blues that first inspired Wyman to pick up the guitar as a teenager. A show imbued with absolute quality.
 
"The whole idea behind the band was to play music that we love and I think you can hear and feel that on our records. Playing live, doing gigs, means everybody in the band does it for the same reasons as I do; to have a good time and send the crowd home with smiles on their faces. I’m looking forward to this very special Liverpool show " says Wyman.
 
This year legendary singer-songwriter John Martyn received the lifetime achievement award at this year's BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
 
The Scotsman, who has been working for more than 40 years, was presented the award by his friend Phil Collins. And in a special message, Eric Clapton described Martyn as: "So far ahead of everything, it's almost inconceivable." Martyn then went on to perform 'Over the Hill' and 'May you Never' (with Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones playing mandolin).
 
He received a standing ovation from the invited audience that included Whispering Bob Harris, K T Tunstall, Martin Carthy, Danny Thompson and from the world of film Bob Hoskins, Sean Bean, Geoff Hughes and Brenda Blethyn.
 
Martyn has romanced generation after generation for more than 40 years with his powerfully heartfelt song-writing, as relevant now as ever, thanks to the homage paid by a new movement of folk artists. Fuelled by his huge voice and staggering guitar playing, there is always a near-religious intensity to a John Martyn show. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see the Scottish song-writing genius.
