The event gathered 2,000 delegates, all with the ambition to boost Britain’s economy. The conference objective was to motivate the best of British business to strive even higher and equip them with the inspiration and insight to do so.
The production needed to be innovative and colourful to reflect the positive mood of the event and create an atmosphere that would leave attendees feeling galvanised.
The audio visual was provided in-house by 14 members of the ACC Liverpool production team, who worked closely with organisers Liverpool Vision for six months in the planning stages.
Bringing together outstanding speakers from the world of business and beyond, ACCELERATE 2013 provided delegates with the inspiration and concrete tools they need to take their business to the next level.
Leaders from the world of commerce, headlined by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, delivered speeches to entrepreneurs and business owners and took part in debates and discussions looking at the best strategies for companies looking to expand.
A gala dinner for 650 was held in the evening also at ACC Liverpool. This served as a springboard for the International Festival for Business 2014, a global showcase of great British industry comprising hundreds of world-class events and taking place in Liverpool in June and July.
A tight turnaround was required to construct both the conference and banqueting hall with the team working through the night on build set-ups.
Halls one and two in BT Convention Centre were fitted out with installations including a 12m by four metres wide screen (pictured), which incorporated animation, video playback, live camera feeds and keynote presentations. The screen was custom-made by the team to fit the hall space.
As the dinner was an international launch, the content included live links to pre-records from David Cameron and high profile global speakers. Two 20k Barco projectors were installed.
An innovative lighting design was developed for both the conference and dinner which consisted of stretched fabric 9m high columns internally lit, ceiling drapes, an array of LED lighting and GOBOs. The ceiling drapes gave a two tone finish to the dinner.
As Nigel Clarke, production manager – sales and business development, says: “We worked closely with Vision to get under the skin of the event and to create a production that would reflect the optimistic mood it was trying to create.
“It was important that the lighting and set design was visual enough to capture the audience and complement the speakers.
“There was an incredibly tight build, we worked throughout the night to bring together a high energy launch event and gala dinner which was introduced by David Cameron and hosted world leaders in business, media, culture and sport.”
