From Liverpool with Love

The UK's newest convention centre will create a James Bond-inspired wonderland in partnership with Visit Britain at IMEX, Frankfurt 22-24th April.

Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool, home of the BT Convention Centre, officially opened on January 12th and has welcomed a host of organisations in its opening months.

Newly announced upcoming events include the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) Europe Annual Conference, to be held August 2009.

IMEX delegates registering enquiries with the 'dressed to kill' ACC Liverpool team at the 007 stand will receive a commemorative Ferrari F360, as well as meeting the team behind a development which has transformed Liverpool into an international conference destination of choice.

ACC Liverpool will be co-hosting a daily martini hour to compliment the activity of the Casino Royale roulette wheel which will be played during the show in association with Liverpool Convention Bureau and its North West neighbours.

This is a perfect opportunity to find out more about the draw of UK's burgeoning North West region.

Jacquie Rogers, BT Convention Centre General Manager, said: "ACC Liverpool’s first year has got off to a wonderful start and we're opening our doors to a host of high-calibre national and international organisations."

"As European Capital of Culture, Liverpool is showing the world what a fantastic destination it is. And this year at IMEX we will enjoy our partnership with Visit Britain and take the opportunity to get the message out there that the Northwest provides something for everybody."

ACC Liverpool aims to be the most environmentally-friendly facility of its kind in Europe and has been designed to produce half the CO2 emissions of a traditional building and will use 20% less electricity.

The venue's purpose-built wind farm funded by the European Objective One Programme was completed in March 2008. The five 20-metre low noise wind turbines are designed to look like works of art rather than traditionally-shaped turbines, and will provide the equivalent of around 10% of electricity in the Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre. The rest will be sourced from E-on's Green Portfolio.

ACC Liverpool also harvests rainwater from the roof and is committed to low-food miles. Heathcotes was chosen by ACC Liverpool as its official caterer because it is based in the Northwest and is committed to using fresh, seasonal produce from the local area.

Jacquie Rogers added: "IMEX 2008's lead on green issues is inspiring and we’re proud to showcase our environmental commitments such as our newly completed wind farm funded by the European Objective One Programme.

"ACC Liverpool allows conference organisers the unique opportunity to house their event in a venue that will actively support delegates to reduce their carbon footprint without lifting a finger."

ACC Liverpool is an architecturally-stunning, £164m development on the city's famous King's Waterfront. The BT Convention Centre has 1,350 seats, a 3725 sq metre multi-purpose hall and 18 further meeting rooms offering complete flexibility.

Total exhibition space is in excess of 7000 sq metres. The 'campus style' layout makes ACC Liverpool an exceptionally good venue for high security events. The adjoining Liverpool Echo Arena has 10,600 seats and plays host to major entertainment and sporting events.
