2015 is set to be a monumental year for ACC Liverpool and the destination and we look forward to you joining us on our exciting journey.
In just seven months we will open the doors to our new development Exhibition Centre Liverpool. In September we will double our facilities, enabling us to host more national and international conferences; trade and consumer exhibitions; entertainment and sporting events.
The waterfront site, which includes a four-star Pullman Hotel, is developing rapidly as you will see from our latest images. We hope to see many of you at The Venue Expo on September 8 and 9 which will give us the opportunity to welcome colleagues from the industry. As well as a varied exhibition, there will be an interesting programme of educational events for you to get involved in and we are working closely with the exhibition organisers to make sure our first trade event is a huge success.
As we count down to the opening of our new development, it is of course business as usual at ACC Liverpool and we have some terrific events in 2015. Forthcoming highlights include the Liberal Democrats spring conference, the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology and the return of BBC Worldwide Showcase for the fourth time. The British Medical Association comes to the venue for the first time, as does the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the UK Stroke Forum. As Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, says: “2015 will be a significant year for us with the opening of our new exhibition centre and Pullman hotel, making us the only purpose-built integrated arena, convention and exhibition centre in Europe and the newest facility of its kind in the UK.
“Meanwhile we have many highlights on the conference calendar and we look forward to another year of staging high profile national and international events.”

Maritime madness will set in with a six week programme of events billed as One Magnificent City. In May the Three Cunard Queens – Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria – will meet in the River Mersey for the first time. This spectacular sight will be followed by the International River Mersey Festival and On the Waterfront concerts at the Pier Head and Albert Dock. The waterfront action will culminate in July with a celebration of the first transatlantic crossing as Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2 sails from Liverpool. We will keep you updated with our own maritime activity to make the most of this stunning programme of events.
We recently relaunched our ambassador programme - which will now be known as Club Liverpool - to promote the city as a world class conference and event destination.
Working alongside Liverpool Convention Bureau, we welcomed experts from across the city – from medics to academics to entrepreneurs – to an event held at our venue. Club Liverpool will help us entice major national and international events to the city and attract inward investment from a global audience.
We aim to double the number of city ambassadors in the next 12 months which will help us grow and develop international events in key sectors such as education, scientific and medical.
Working together as joint advocates allows us to get our messages out to the right people and show just why businesses should recognise Liverpool as a world class destination for conferences and events.
Kerrin MacPhie, director of sales at ACC Liverpool, said: “City ambassadors are crucial in helping us to attract large international conferences as they are experts in their field and can help to identify key events which they would like to see hosted in their home city.”
The new programme includes a refreshed website, ClubLiverpool.co.uk, which enables ambassadors to access event news, networking opportunities and key information. It also offers members access to exclusive ambassador events in Liverpool to network, gain insight into what’s new in the city and meet other ambassadors in order to share best practice.
Sara Wilde McKeown, chair of Liverpool city region’s visitor economy board, said: “Our influential ambassadors raise the credibility of the city as a national and international event destination and help open pathways to attracting different subject matters and sponsors. This is why we have focused on building on our existing programme, which has already proven to bring significant economic value to the city over recent years.”

We have once again joined forces with hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions to encourage your delegates to explore the city during conference and return in the future.
Our updated Delegate Card, which is available to all visitors attending conferences at our venue, was created to encourage attendees to explore as much of the city as possible with a series of offers, discounts and privileges. It also provides an incentive for visitors to return with their friends and families.

We understand how difficult the pitch process can be, which is why we’ve created an online toolkit aimed at assisting agents.
Our Pitch Perfect toolkit contains essential destination information to support clients across a broad level of scenarios – from a detailed high level pitch to an internal briefing for management. The range of documents, which can be accessed through a secure log in system via ACC Liverpool's recently launched client extranet, include venue layouts, access to an image library, CAD drawings and digital versions of destination information including hotels and supporting venues.
“We appreciate how complicated the pitch process can be, particularly when those last important pieces of information need to be gathered quickly. Our aim is to make life as easy as possible for our valued contacts”, says Kerrin.
“The Pitch Perfect toolkit provides vital information at the touch of a button, making the entire procedure as seamless as possible. Whilst it has been created with agents in mind, we hope that everyone will find it useful.”
