What’s new?

Ecl

Here at ACC Liverpool we are looking forward to the opening of Exhibition Centre Liverpool in September and hope to see some of you at one of our first events – The Venue Expo.  In partnership with the event organisers UKFE, we have organised a hosted buyer programme during the show, which takes place at our new venue on September 8 and 9.

We will more than double our existing 7,125 sqm at ACC Liverpool to 15,225 sqm of integrated and flexible event space with the arrival of Exhibition Centre Liverpool, this is in addition to the meeting rooms within BT Convention Centre.  The increase of 8,100 sqm can be used as one space or divided into three.  The venue will also feature a glazed atrium with waterfront views in addition to duplex food and beverage outlets, multiple meeting rooms, external event spaces, riverside balcony and a business centre.

It will host trade and consumer exhibitions; large national and international conferences and congresses and exhibitions; large scale banquets; concerts and sporting events on a national and international scale.

Confirmed corporate events so far include Cambridge Weight Plan which will hold a banquet for 1,000 attendees over two nights.

The beauty of our new sister venue is that it is a blank canvas that can be dressed to impress for your next big brand event.  It will be interconnected to our existing arena and convention centre, via a pedestrian link bridge, and will be interlinked with our on-site four star hotel, Pullman Liverpool, giving you even more flexibility.

Look out for details of our spectacular opening event on September 17.

Case study

Ukoag

We hosted the UKOUG Applications Conference and Exhibition 2014 and the UKOUG Technology Conference and Exhibition 2014, the largest Oracle User Group Conferences in the UK, for the first time.

We welcomed more than 1,400 attendees to Tech14 and Apps14 for three days.  The venue was effectively divided into two to create two separate co-located events.

The aim of both conferences was to share knowledge and to provide networking opportunities among the Oracle community. The events enable members to learn about new services, products and provide support to each other.

Around 400 internationally renowned speakers attended along with 60 exhibitors who provided advice and information about technological solutions and products.

Evening socials were organised in restaurants in the city as well as the venue and delegates were encouraged to take advantage of cultural offers.

Karen McCormack, head of events at UK Oracle User Group, said: “We had two events co-located at ACC Liverpool with a very specific brief to create two separate delegate experiences.  We were able to fulfil the brief thanks to the venue’s flexibility.”

Darren Neal, senior event manager at ACC Liverpool, said: “UKOUG was an unusual and interesting set-up for us as we had two conferences running concurrently.

“We divided our convention centre, including our central galleria and hall two, and created two separate venues as each event attracted different audiences.  The entire conference worked really well and feedback from delegates and our client was positive.”

Karen added: “The venue really leant itself well to us logistically and ACC Liverpool provided us with a five-star service, developing relationships with our team on both a professional and personal level.

“I would recommend ACC Liverpool to other event organisers who are planning an event on this scale.”

We welcomed BBC Worldwide for the fourth time for its annual Showcase event.

Hall 2 of the convention centre was transformed to include 600 specially constructed digi booths for 700 international delegates to screen British television content throughout the day.

Highlights included a star-studded dinner held in the arena.  A stunning candlelit dinner was held at Liverpool Cathedral, themed around the drama Wolf Hall, the following evening.

Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, said: “Every year we are impressed with how the BBC Worldwide team transform our venue and this year was no exception – the arena and convention centre looked spectacular which is fantastic when there are so many delegates visiting from all over the world for this event.”

Audi UK held its National Forum which was the car company’s third visit. A total of 650 delegates attended the one day event which brought together UK and customer service employees, dealer principals, area managers, international executives and some agency staff.  The National Forum provides an opportunity to showcase new products and for staff to receive company updates and learn about objectives for the year ahead.

Audi UK added its own branding throughout the convention centre which included placing its logo at the front of the building and over existing venue signage.

The main plenary session took place in the auditorium where a selection of cars was revealed on stage.  Hall two was divided into sections to allow for different break-out sessions.
