LIVERPOOL UNVEILS GIANT PLANS AT CONFEX

Team Liverpool will launch the city’s massive summer of events at Confex 2014.

Liverpool Convention Bureau and ACC Liverpool will reveal more about the monumental year planned for the city region.  Global events include the International Festival for Business which will bring tens of thousands of visitors to Liverpool over 50 days in June and July. The festival is the biggest event of its kind in the UK for more than half a century.

There’s also a major cultural and leisure programme in Liverpool this summer, the biggest and best since the city’s Capital of Culture year in 2008; highlights include the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, the Biennial and the return of the Royal de Luxe giants at the end of July. All of these are expected to draw huge crowds, and significantly enhance the city’s business tourism offer.

To complement the city’s hive of activity, Team Liverpool’s stand, F50, will showcase the destination’s ‘day and night’ conference offer - world-class conference centre by day and inspirational dinner venues, unique social programmes and a great range of accommodation at night.

Fuelled by these international events, Liverpool is expecting a very busy year and so is taking its strongest ever presence to Confex on March 12 and 13.  Stand partners include The University of Liverpool, Rum Warehouse, Liverpool Football Club, the Marriott Hotel and Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

Emma Bellis, head of Liverpool Convention Bureau, said: “The International Festival for Business grabs the headlines, and rightly so, but there is also a great deal of activity outside that in 2014. From new venues and openings to an exhilarating cultural programme, we are heading to Confex to show attendees just how much choice and buzz there is in Liverpool at the moment, and what makes it such a popular destination for conferences and exhibitions of different sizes.”

Kerrin MacPhie, director of sales at ACC Liverpool, will provide updates on the stand including the latest on the multi-million pound Exhibition Centre Liverpool which is now underway and an introduction to the venue’s new in-house caterers, global hospitality company Centerplate.  She will also unveil ACC Liverpool’s latest brand campaign ‘All You’ll Ever Need.’

Away from the stand, Emma will present ‘Destination Management – The New Approach’ to delegates and Kerrin will talk about the ‘Internalisation of Events.’

Invited visitors to the stand will be given an event manager’s survival kit containing all the essential items to save the day and night.
