ACC Liverpool has won a prestigious 'Green Award' at an industry dinner hosted in London.
The accolade, from trade magazine Exhibition News, is the latest in a series of green titles for the waterfront development, home to Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre.
The Green Award recognised a number of ACC Liverpool's recent achievements including being one of the first UK venues to send zero waste to landfill and the attainment of the industry standard ISO 14001 accreditation.
The venue was designed to produce half the CO2 emissions it would without any environmentally-friendly measures implemented and to use 20% less electricity. A "green dream team" is dedicated to recycling, waste management and energy efficiency and standards are constantly under review.
Jacquie Rogers, BT Convention Centre General Manager, said: "ACC Liverpool is already renowned as one of the greenest venues in Europe and this award helps secures that reputation even further. Environmental responsibility has always been high on the agenda for us and we put sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
"The award proves that a focus on sustainability and helping clients minimise their own impact on the environment can go hand in hand with providing an industry leading, multi-purpose facility in a fantastic location."
ACC Liverpool beat off stiff competition from venue Excel London and signage and display manufacturer Octlink.
The accolades were announced to an audience of 500 industry professionals at a gala celebration at the Lancaster, in London.
